Press Release: Rendezvous’ 60th Anniversary!

As we begin the New Year, the team at Rendezvous is ramping up plans for the Yukon’s premiere winter festival, with lots of all-time favorites like the Performance Stage, Mad Trapper Competition, KIDSFEST, and more returning between February 9th and 26th, 2024 as we come together to celebrate A Colourful 60 Years: Diamond Edition!

Tickets for key events are on sale now! We are excited to bring back returning favourites like the Klondike Dance Hall and the QFTC Fashion show and Tea & Social, as well as new events like the 60th Anniversary Murder Mystery Show! Get your tickets for Whitehorse Toyota Fiddle Show, A Rendezvous Affair presented by the Nude & Rude Revue, and our enchanted forest themed Masquerade Ball, as well as the Rendezvous Raffle with over $8,000 in prizes! (License #2024 - 003).  This year, Rendezvous Drag Extravaganza is delivering a fantastic drag show, with very special guest Kendall Gender again.  Head to https://www.yukonrendezvous.com/ to grab all your tickets for this year's festival.

For 2024, The Midnight Sun Fireworks Producers will unfortunately be taking a break from the fireworks, in a statement they said: “We are sad to announce that we have made the difficult decision to take this year off from the Rendezvous Pyromusical. Each year the design and production of the show takes hundreds of hours, which we are proud to say are fully volunteer. The production of the show is a family effort, and we love it, however we have decided that for this year the best thing for us is to take a break. We'd like to thank Yukoners for all the support over the years as well as our crew, who’s countless hours of volunteer work have made it possible for us to create award quality shows in the Yukon.”

With a bit of a loss, we do come back with a gain. The Quest For the Crown competition is back and in full swing! We have 9 eager candidates already out and about town selling tickets. Come support them by buying their tickets, or coming to the QFTC Fashion Show on Feb 10th and have some tea and snacks at their Tea & Social on Feb.17th, where you’ll hear them present their speeches of topics that have meaningful impacts in their lives.

As Rendezvous welcomes another season, it also welcomes a new Executive Director to the Rendezvous Society! Shantay Karhut will be taking the reins with direction from our volunteer Board of Directors for the 60th Yukon Rendezvous Festival. Shantay is a born and raised Yukoner, who has been a part of Rendezvous ever since she was in cadets. She is dedicated to bringing the traditional values, while including new progressive ideals as the world evolves, to the festival. She is committed to building relationships and growing the participation of our community in order to bring the festival back to what it was before COVID.

The 60th Yukon Rendezvous Festival will be taking place between February 9th and 26th, 2024. We can hardly wait to celebrate! Have a Rockin’ Rendezvous!
