Caroline Carter - Miss Horizon Helicopters - 2011 YSR Queen

Caroline Carter - Miss Horizon Helicopters

Hi! I’m Caroline! I grew up in Vancouver but moved to the Yukon to work for CHON FM. I fell in love with the scenery and the people and now call the Yukon home. I’m running for Queen to join the sisterhood of fabulous northern ladies who came before me! If chosen, I promise to continue sharing my love of my new home with others. My interests include the great outdoors, my dog, Barbie, singing in the shower, and making people giggle. I want to thank my Yukon man who made sure I had a parka and Horizon Helicopters for helping me rise to the challenge!

Cheryl Major - Miss Canaccord

Cheryl Major - Miss Canaccord - 2011 1st PrincessMy name is Cheryl Major. I am a communications analyst for the Yukon government and a public affairs officer in the Canadian Forces Reserve. I moved to Yukon from BC in 2007 and, after realizing that you just can't leave Yukon once you get here, have decided to embrace it as my home. I enjoy reading, skiing, travelling and hiking as well as educational pursuits.I am running for Rendezvous Queen because I believe in the importance of giving back to the community. Over the past three years I have seen how much this festival, and everyone involved, does for Whitehorse. Every year that I have been involved with Rendezvous has been in uniform, focused on Canadian Forces outreach and the air show. I've seen how hard the Queen candidates work to support the festival and how beautiful they look in their costumes. I've looked forward to the opportunity to participate more fully so this year, I am looking forward to immersing myself in the people and culture of Yukon, and wearing dresses instead of combat boots!  I am happy to have the support of my boyfriend and sponsor, Canaccord Wealth Management, my friends and co-workers who I know will buy lots of tickets, and my two cats.  I think that my education and experience in public relations and leadership, my training as an officer and my natural optimism and positive attitude will be assets in this competition and help me excel in the role of Rendezvous Queen.

Brycie Klassen - Miss Evergreen Homes Construction

Brycie Klassen - Miss Evergreen Homes and Construction - 2011 2nd PrincessAs soon as I moved to the Yukon Territory, I heard about Rendezvous: a festival that brings people together in celebration, braving the harsh winter climate. It remembers and honours the past, as well as stimulates the economy for the future.

Being new to the territory, I was excited to volunteer my time to such a worthy cause.  It seemed like a great way to meet new people, experience the north and give back to the community. Originally from Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, my passion (as well as my profession) is serving the community and working with people. My greatest inspiration comes from my parents, who both work in the public service sector. My mother, Karen Klassen, has been an educator for over 15 years and my father, Terry Klassen, is Manager of the EMS for the Yukon Territory. I am very excited about this year’s competition, and hope that my fellow candidates and I form long lasting relationships that will continue to grow in the years to come.

Denali Ducharme - Miss TD Canada Trust - 2011 Miss Congeniality

My name is Denali Ducharme- Russell. I was born and raised here in the Yukon. I moved to Ontario for six years, and when I came home it was like I never left. I work at TD Canada Trust. I love my job almost as much as I love my co-workers. I want to run for Rendezvous Queen, because I'm looking for an unforgettable experience. I'm looking forward to meeting so many new people during this time. I'm very out going and bubbly, sometimes irritatingly so. I truly believe a smile can change a life.
