Based with an overall theme of the 1890’s, the festival not only celebrates the Klondike Gold Rush but all that is Yukon. When attending the festival you will find events that are incredible to watch, but even better to participate in!

Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous

YUKON: A territory in Northern Canada. Located North of British Columbia, East of Alaska, and home of the famed Klondike Gold Rush of the 1890’s. Now home to just over 30,000 people, with over 531,000 km² (205,000 miles²).

SOURDOUGH: A veteran inhabitant of Canada’s Yukon Territory.  Someone who has braved the entire winter and stayed from 'freeze up' to 'thaw' of the Yukon River.

RENDEZVOUS: A meeting at an appointed place and time.

Put them together and you have the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Festival, the only true, legal, and healthy cure for Cabin Fever.

In an area where temperatures can reach -40c in an average winter, Yukoners need the opportunity to release all their pent up energy. And now we all invite you to come and join us for the 46th Annual festival from February 25 – 28, 2010!

On January 15, 1964, the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Society was incorporated, however the festival has been taking place in one form or another for many years prior to that.  Based with an overall theme of the 1890’s, the festival not only celebrates the Klondike Gold Rush but all that is Yukon.  When attending the festival you will find events that are incredible to watch, but even better to participate in!  Imagine telling your friends and family that you took part in the Flour Packing Competition, Axe Toss, Chainsaw Chuck – or that the kids took part in the many kids events that take place during “KIDS FEST”.

So take the time to explore our website.  You will find descriptions of our many events, a full schedule of events,  as well as introductions to our many colourful characters.

Come on out and enjoy the "ruckus and the revelry of the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous!!"
